Is this the worst ever ant infestation in SoCal?

Recommended Posts

Yeah, that's a good question.  Chimi, should we be stockpiling this stuff?

Good question.  I haven't heard anything for sure on what they plan to do.  We have to go to seminars every 6 months to stay up to date on this stuff.  I have my Fall Seminar next week actually.  Right now it's just rumors of what is going to happen.  They just came out with a new product called Termidor HE which is supposed to be better in regards to it contaminating water.  The way the state tests this stuff is by taking samples of little micro-organisms in the ocean.  And what they've been finding in those little things are traces of fipronil so that sent them into a frenzy and saying we're poisoning the ocean.  So I don't know if this new Termidor is going to help with that but I have a hard time believing the pest control industry is the cause of the fipronil flowing out into the ocean.  But we get the blame for it regardless.

I'll let you guys know once I hear something.  They won't just pull something off the shelf without giving us an advanced warning about it.

Premise is a good product for termites also.  It's not quite as good as Termidor, but it's still pretty good.

We've had ants like crazy since the beginning of summer here at my house. No matter how many times I spray or clean the house entirely. They just come back.

A month back we had a exterminator come to spray inside and out. That did absolutely nothing to help.

Sounds like you had a bad exterminator.

This is the stuff you want:

Use coupon code givemea5 for $5 off.

Get a sprayer for like $8.

It's not worth fighting them and spraying all kinds of things inside your house.

Chimi, do you have a recommendation for killing silverfish in areas where I have boxes of books in storage?  I've sprinkled boric acid around the boxes but I'm not sure how effective that really is.

Thanks!

Niban works amazing for Silverfish.  It's a super fine granular that you puff into those areas.

Thanks!

What's the difference between Niban and this stuff? 071121960238_3D1_01.jpg

Niban shows to be 5% Orthoboric Acid, and the Hot Shot stuff is 99% Orthoboric Acid.

The Hot Shot is just straight boric acid so it works by the bugs coming into contact with it. It's also highly repellent and a lot of insects know it's there and just simply go around it.

Boric Acid works best when it's ingested. So even though the percentage might seem small in the granular, it's much more effective than the powder.
