I like it! American Dream is a throwback to old Petty albums. Hard edge to it.

i love Tom Petty and have seen him play many times, but something changed musically when Stan Lynch left the band that i just can't get past. my loss, i suppose.

Tom Petty always sounded to me like he was sitting on the can, suffering a bout with constipation..

 

That said, I heard a song from the new album on the radio and liked it. Won't be running out to add it to my collection of zero TP albums, though.

Saw him many years ago with Dylan and quite a few others at a benefit concert for Steve Goodman (The train they call the city of New Orleans, and other songs including Go Cubs Go) and he was pretty good live...just never a big fan of his sound.
