The best and worst teams in terms of BsR thus far this season.

Best BsR Angels 7.0 Pirates 3.3 Braves 3.3 Rangers 2.9 Yankees 2.9 Worst BsR Giants -2.0 White Sox -4.4 Cardinals -5.9 Athletics -6.8 Red Sox -9.0

 

 

The Angels through a combination of intelligent baserunning and speed are more than 2x ahead of the 2nd best team in the Pirates (despite Aybar's gaff at first last night!).  Most of the credit apparently goes to Howie (who leads all 2nd basemen in WAR for the MLB by the way).

 

Apparently Boston's last because of Napoli, Ortiz and Pierzynski =)

The base running mistakes have been considerably less this year. You will see the occasional trying to take an extra base out when the runner either wants to ensure the run scores or he thinks the ball is going home only to be cut off. You will also see the occasional runner picked off, but that truly happens to all teams. I haven't even seen the contact play fail much if at all this season.

Proximity of Bat to Pitch. I think Stewart's average distance from bat to ball on swings is 6.8 inches.

PoBtP sounds suspiciously like a stat that uses Peter Bourjos at bats for the weighted measurement.

Agreed, Aybar being caught rounding the bag yesterday was the only issue I remember recently.

If not for the injuries and bullpen imploding with inherited runners, who knows what the record would be.

Here's to good health from June forward and also to a pen much better here on in with inherited runners.

Kohn is a good start, stranding all 9 so far.

Not just base running, the Angels are dominating sabermetric stats this season.
