I really don't get Howie. If you look at his minor league and spring training numbers, he really should be better than he is. Every single year he kills the ball in spring training, then sucks in April. I think the main thing with Howie is that he doesn't have that killer, competitive instinct. The game gets to him and he can't perform. Kind of a bummer, and what has kept him from that batting title.

Scouting reports have Howie completely exposed. He hits in spring because opposing pitchers pitch to their strengths instead of Howie's weaknesses.

Howie can't drive the fastball in on his hands, and he will miss on the slider down and away.
