4 of the 5 starters have a K per inning or better. The only one who doesn't (Skaggs) leads the crew in IP and WHIP. I don't think many of us pictured things working out quite that way. I do think everyone feels like Richards and Skaggs can be a nice lead duo going forward so that's pretty encouraging.

It's early but there are a lot of encouraging signs.   The SPs have combined for a .226 average allowed, well below the league average of .255.   They rank 3rd in Ks, 5th in IP, 5th in WHIP...   The biggest problem has been the HR allowed, but there is reason to at least be hopeful they improve in that area..

 

They just need the bullpen to take a step forward.

The ONE solitary walk from Skaggs in 15 innings is the most welcome surprise so far.

His pitch counts have accordingly been low.

Richards has a chance to bust through this season. Only Masterson compares at GB/FB ratio going back to 2013.
