Not a good outing for Richards, but the 7 K's are a positive take away for him. He should be K'ing that many every night.

Was good to see him fight through and limit the damage there. Did his best to avoid that one bad inning...but obviously he's gotta find ways to limit the walks. Still happy with this outing....the stuff is great

Looks like we're gonna be seeing Salas/Jepsen or Kohn in the 6th and 7th innings before it gets to Joe Smith/Frieri....so now would be a good time for the bats to put a few more...or 8 more runs across the board

Honestly, why not see if Richards can go 6? Maybe he gets lucky and gets a couple of quick outs.

This was Scioscia's logic with Weaver and sort of with CJ... The bullpen is bad, but it's a lot worse when they have to come in with 2 guys already on base...

Richards is at 95 pitches and he's losing command (that means he's tired), lets quit while we're ahead.

Ya I'll take it for sure, but he got through it by the skin of his teeth. This Houston team isn't exactly the type to take advantage of the opportunity. He won't be so lucky if he walks 5 guys next time.

We're facing a less stronger lineup (that's not saying much, but it's weaker nonetheless), and Richards has looked much better than either of those guys did in their first 5 innings.

I agree. Although after the first series I will take it. His stuff was very impressive overall.
