I just feel that they paid him so darn much money and they're not getting a superstar performer in return. He was supposed to be a difference maker and he's not.

 

 

Is it his fault he's getting older or the Angels' fault for ignoring that he was?  I'm not even trying to be a prick, I just think the Angels knew they were paying for past performances he wasn't going to ever replicate.  IMO, Pujols was as much about branding as he was about baseball.   Unfortunately, unless AP picks it up, the Angels will simply be branded morons.

home grown superstar players will be loved by their fans regardless of whether the team wins or not.  If they don't win it's because of everyone else around them. 

 

big money free agents signings will only be loved by the fans if they bring them wins and playoff appearances.  Even if they play well, if the team doesn't win, it's their fault for not being better.  2012 Pujols was good enough.  2013 Pujols was injured.  It's gonna take 2 or 3 solid years from Albert AND making the postseason for fans not to turn on him (or turn back).
