Jim Healy used to rag on Journalist Bill back in his heyday.

 

 

Dwyer usually has decent stuff.  I think he's the sports editor.

 

 

He was editor of the "World Champion" for decades.  Healy called him "Editor Bill", IIRC.

 

He switched to columnist 3 or 4 years ago.

My inside sources tell me that Dwyer is just pissed that the Angels would not make him a print of the Jeter oil painting. After being denied multiple times, he told the organization that he would stop at nothing to embarrass them. Telling us to act like the Red Sox is a low blow. I fear that next he will ask us to shave our heads, get tear drop tattoos, paralyze some Rangers fans, and turn right field into an all you can eat weiner fest.

I feel honoring other teams players that kept you out of the World Series pretty stupid.

 

Especially honoring a milestone that didn't happen in your ballpark. I didn't see Boston commemorate Jeter's 3000th hit either.

 

I could see commemorating it if it came at Angels Stadium, and then momentarily stopping the game to mark the occasion.

Big difference between retiring and a milestone.  And I still don't agree with the Angels honoring Rivera.  Those players never played for the Angels, and it's not the same as a Rivalry.

 

Hell, I bet Dwyre would like the Angels to honor the Dodgers if they ever win the World Series.  Because that would be the classy thing to do.
