I like shuck batting 2nd or leading off with Trout 3rd.  With the three of them lumped together, it's easier to try and figure when the halos might score.

 

Then I can not watch for an hour while the other teams score their 6 runs.

Batting third worked for Pujols. How many AB's will he miss over the course of a season?

I wouldn't be surprised to see Trout batting second with Pujols & Hamilton behind him next season ... no matter who the manager is going to be.

If everyone makes the last out equally it's 1/9 games would end between each lineup spot so that works out to about 18 PA's over the course of a season. It's not a huge difference but if Trout is hitting .333 that is probably about 4-5 hits and a walk or two and a probably a couple of stolen bases. Shuck wouldn't get on base enough to justify the difference between him hitting 2nd and 9th. Let's not forget the only time it makes a difference is the first time through the lineup.

The team would have been so much better off if they traded Trumbo at the deadline for some young major league ready pitchers
