It takes some seriously ridiculous strength to throw across your body like that, falling away from 1st, and at that distance. Not to mention it was a perfect throw.

It was an amazing play but if he doesn't bobble it in the first place it would have been a routine play.

It wouldn't have been routine by any means, but because of the bobble IMO it means the play isn't as good as what people are saying.

I was thinking this play or will venable's catch, but ok

I'd take Bourjos or Trout's robbery over the Machado play. Even the Puig throw to double off dude from the warning track was more impressive to me.

This play was incredible.

To the people saying it would've been routine if he didn't bobble it... no shit.

But he did bobble it and he recovered to make a throw off balance from near the 3rd base dugout right on the line. Amazing play.

I am a sucker for a good arm. Damn that was nice. I think the fact that he did bobble it made it better. So many things could have gone wrong after the bobble and he recovered nicely. Didn't even notice he bobbled it till the second replay.

A definite contender for play of the year.

Ridiculously impressive that he can throw off balance, across his body, falling away towards the dugout, and throw an absolute laser of a strike on the fly.  A lot of third basemen couldn't get that kind of accuracy and velocity on a throw from there if they set their feet.  That said, I'm not a big fan of "making it right" plays after a bobble or some kind of mistake.  The throw was absolutely incredible but I hate calling makeup plays "play of the year."
