Not end of story, Chuck. He has not been the player you have to have for 6 years. He is the player drawing a salary of a #1 but hasn't been. Those three MVPs are the past, he doesn't have any trade value now because of 6 years of injuries. 

The last 6 years you could replace Trout with Betts and have better results. You would get Betts full seasons of high level of production the entire year instead of Trouts two month hot streak filled by 40-80 games on the IL.

He is not the #1 player in baseball no matter how far back you go. He was for 5 seasons. But that was a long time ago.

If you pay close attention I've had similar posts in recent threads by AW members getting their diapers in a bunch over media personalities being mean to the Angels. The other ones happened to be dudes with penises (allegedly).

Problem is we don't know the criteria of whatever list this is.  Best players heading in to 2024? Where's Acuna? Best players past 5 years? Where's Judge and Ohtani?   Buster Posey has accumulated a grand total of 7 WAR the past 6 seasons and is ranked 4th on the list.

Best player as a whole since 2009 is Trout hands down and it's not even close.

Persona aside -- the dude has some historically awful takes.  He's the type to argue Ted Williams is overrated because he rarely led his team to the playoffs and the one time he did he laid an egg.

Yeah. There is a big difference between evaluating a player’s current value and evaluating his career. 
 

Once you put Buster Posey on there you’re pretty much saying you’re evaluating the career and not the current status, so having Trout 8th makes no sense.
