Royce Lewis has two homers....

The Twins had the second best record after the all-star break (not sure if that's just in the AL or all of MLB).  They could be this year's "buzz saw."

Another horrible missed call affects the game. On a 1 - 1 pitch to Kirk a clear strike right down the middle is called a ball. Even the Jays announcer says "what a break!"

Instead of being ahead in the count, Lopez is behind. And the at bat changes. And probably his temper. He ends up issuing a walk and the next guy drives in a run. And the Twins change pitchers. And then Chapman hits the ball 400 feet and barely misses a homer.

All initiated by a horrendous missed call by the home plate ump.

Very  interesting.

After the Blue Jays choked again in the post game analysis brought up an interesting point.

Too much analytics. Decisions made before the game by analytic specialists and possibly over riding managerial authority. Decisions made " by a whole lot of people" according to the Jays analysts.

For instance, it was already planned before the game to pull their starter at a certain point even though he was doing well. Barrios said that "he felt bad" and "didn't know"  why he was pulled prematurely.

The discussion boiled down to predetermined analytic strategy negating live managerial instincts and feel.

Regardless, a few seasons ago the Blue Jays were the young up and coming team. Three years in a row choking early in the playoffs changes perceptions. Especially with a likely loss of players.
