The timing of all this is again just so like something associated with this shitshow of a year.  He apparently talked to the press at the same time Ohtani was outside taking b.p. and hurting himself.  It's just comical at this point.

My guess is that we'll get some sort of non-update around 4:30..."He's not in the lineup tonight, but he's feeling better.  Oblique is still a little tight, still a little sore. We're not worried and expect him to be back in the lineup tomorrow."  Rinse, repeat for a few days until he's finally shut down for the year and he has surgery on his UCL.
