Ohtani certainly isn't making much of a case for being worth 1/2 Billion $$, and he certainly has come up empty in far to many opportunities that would have helped the Halos get into striking distance.

But what an appealing rental, a single player that’s in your playoff starting rotation and a bat for the middle of the lineup.  If we’re out of contention Artie should just do it and pick up the remainder of the salary we’d get at least one can’t miss prospect (ha ha) and a couple of other interesting ones.  Or we can watch an unmotivated Ohtani which would still be a pleasure and get a comp pick.

One ugly game.

13 men left on base.

I may be totally wrong, but Ohtani is looking really selfish. It's a team game. All his at bats seem the same, regardless of score and situation. Swinging for the fences the same way with every pitch.

At one point he had swung at about nine of the first ten pitches that he saw.

The at bat with the bases loaded was the worst. Seemingly without prioritizing the situation. A chance to do serious damage against a real nemesis team in a critical series. At least try to put some pressure on the pitcher and make him work. Or try to just make solid contact and not always try and pull the ball with every swing. Situations call for adaptability. And a team first attitude.

Now it seems every damn at bat is an all or nothing result. And even when he hits singles it's almost like he's disappointed. The single or double weren't what he wanted but he has to settle for them.

What good are forty homers if many don't come at important times? And a long stream of men were left on base at other critical situations.

Not just Ohtani, really. the Angels are one of the best home run hitting teams. But they struggle to stay around .500.

He doesnt want to be here, then F him.  I am tired of all these doomsday comments about him leaving!

He has contributed a lot to us being in 3rd or 4th place.

F him because doesn't want to be here? Ok.

And it's not doomsday, it's reality. He'll be in the playoffs while Trout and Rendon have tee times at Pelican.

God bless him for being on a playoff team.  I  tired of every other pessimistic post stating "Ohtani is leaving for sure".
