I can identify with throwing away the calendar. I don't know the date unless I look at my phone. The alarm clock only goes off if I have an early morning medical appointment, which I try to avoid. I get things done around the house, but at my own pace.

This is all I daydream about. I have 4 and some change to go before I'm done. I'm finally getting old enough that I don't daydream about crazy travel ideas anymore, but just sleeping late and cleaning my house every day. 

Best thing is my GF is like half my age, so she'll still have to work, and I'll have the house to myself so we don't drive each other crazy

And when it's time for her to retire I'll be dead, so she'll get the house to herself. 

Should work out perfect for everyone involved.

I had not planned to retire when I did. I finally got fed up enough with the leadership in my division that I started doing the math. When I found out that I would make about 70 percent of my salary by doing nothing, it was over. I still may find something per diem to work long enough to knock some debts out, but I don't see any more 40+ hour weeks in my future.

I’ll be honest guys…. The “honey-do” list of things my wife has me doing has me waaaay busier than any firehouse I’ve ever worked in.
