Not bad.  MLB Trade Rumors has him estimated at $9.2M in arb this year, which I assume is why the Twins traded him.  He's definitely a good addition to "raise the floor," as we keep mentioning on here.  At that salary, I imagine they're envisioning him as more than a bench player.  He's primarily a 3B, though he's played some at SS.

My guess is insurance for Rendon so they aren't playing someone like Duffy...

Rendon on the move? Would open up a shit ton of money to go out and get 1 of the SS.

As I mentioned, though, he's probably going to be making ~$9M in 2023, so I imagine they're looking at him as something more than just insurance for Rendon.

well then it sounds like its either a precursor to another trade of a current player or they are willing to raise the payroll enough to fill more holes. I doubt hes being brought in to play SS.

Don't hate the player, but it's worth noting that his offense was worst when he played most at SS, and while he's played throughout the infield, he's played minimally anywhere other than 3B. Really want to hear from Minasian on what the thinking is on this one.

Showed upside this season but he's 19 so nowhere near impacting the major league team

Fringy prospect with a bit of upside. Very young. He was #27 on our upcoming top 30 Angels prospects list.

Love this move. This is exactly the type of move(s) I was hoping from Minasian. Hidalgo could end up being decent, but with limited upside. Urshela gives multi-positional depth, a high floor of offensive productive. Replace 550 PA from Wade/Velazquez/Mayfield with Urshela, and last year's offense improves drastically. Plus, he's a solid back-up plan if Rendon gets hurt again or Walsh sucks.
