If the Dodgers want him, I'd ask for:

Pitchers Bobby Miller, Dustin May, and Mitchell White, catcher Diego Cartaya, and infielders Michael Busch and Gavin Lux.

Two things, Shohei is a once in a lifetime talent, and considering the haul that Cincy got for Castillo, I think this is the offer.

Crazy thing is Dodgers might just offer that. They tend to get their guy, if they want him, and they have the ammo to pull the trigger.

It would really come down to Arte.

I'm wondering if the Braves would do something like this:

Ohtani, Marsh, Syndergaard and Fletcher

for

Albies (comes off the IL in late Aug), Michael Harris III, Grissom (their #1 prospect), Soroka (comes off the IL in Sept, Muller (their 2nd best SP prospect) and Shuster their top SP prospect. If not Albies, maybe look at Wilson Contreras.

He’s barreled 3 balls in his career, 3.  Velazquez has 8 this season. So yea it’s Fletcher.

Why does it matter? Why is it an issue if Fletch gets on base like he did two years ago?

That seems a bit generous to me @Chuckster70, I see what you're doing with a multi-player trade, but could we not get more than that haul if we traded each of those individually? With a couple of well-coached adjustments I can still see lots of future value in Marsh and Fletcher.

For Ohtani (Babe Ruth 2.0), it surely has to be a record haul, a deal that makes you go wow! He is just entering his prime on both sides of the ball and brings more external value than most players that have ever played the game. He's a franchise altering player, for that I want a franchise altering haul. And boy do we need that.

I agree. Just playing devils advocate given the lack of hitting adjustment of most of the team.

Yea, I understand them firing and not firing the Reed or Wise.  Those guys are going to be gone at season’s end regardless.  If you promote a minor league guy mid season, they are basically just going to get fired at seasons end anyway.

The thing that bothers me about these trade proposals is we can’t develop guys. I just can’t see a situation in where we win by trading Ohtani. Yet, I can’t see a situation where we win if we see him walk.

He won’t is the issue.  I believe the league figured him out.  He can’t do any real damage so pitch him hard and away and he will hit lazy fly balls or ground balls into the shift.

Last night the rangers did not play a shift against him.

I think it will be SD because Arte does not want to deal with Dodgers. You need to include all teams and make it known. Have teams bid against each other. So, you must engage with Dodgers. Get the best deal possible. This trade can get halos to start and turn things around. Let Minasian and staff work on deal send Arte away till after Tuesday.
