Does the Mets' success this year change your opinion of Billy Eppler?

I think it's important to understand it isn't just Eppler either. Sandy Alderson is still involved and he's a living legend among front offices.

And I think Alderson and Eppler saw what the Dodgers did when purchased from McCourt. A high initial investment to float a teams immediate success while a more sustainable farm and scouting system can be constructed to ensure long-term success.

Sandy Alderson announced in September that he was stepping down - cancer survivor, 75 years old. Do you think he is playing a big role with the team? I have no inside knowledge but I'm not seeing anything about Alderson driving this.

That's a fair point. I must have forgotten that.

No, this offseason has not changed my opinion of Eppler. I still think he is a very good GM. I still think if Arte got out of his way we would be in a much better place.

Arte didn't get out of the way (in time) and Eppler is in a better place.

Doesnt change my opinion - I think he's a really smart guy.

He actually did a pretty good job beginning to dig us out of the disasterous situation the team wad in, with *nothing* in the minor leagues - and him signing Ohtani certainly revived interest in the team, even if it didn't get us to the playoffs.

He made mistakes, and I don't think he did nearly enough to improve the scouting/drafting/development system - arguably, the worst in baseball when he arrived - so, while I thought he was good, wasn't upset to see him go.

But happy for him, that he appears to be doing so well.
