But that is a minor factor.

This series! 48k in 27 innings! Historic worst today for the Angels, historic best for the Astros.

And the Angels, worst overall. 

Discipline, understanding the strike zone, knowing the pitchers, team hitting philosophy. And the type of players making up the roster. All issues. 

But this is how the team was constructed. Four runs in three games, three via solo homers. And strikeouts over  and over and over. The same pattern keeps repeating. Sometimes , mostly against poor teams they'll slug their way to wins. But they don't generate enough baserunners, find other ways to score or put pressure on opposing defenses.  The talent isn't there through two thirds of the order,  and all the pressure is on two or three guys. 

A new hitting coach may help, but it's going to take time. Player's form habits, and changing them is a subtle process. Especially collectively. And quite frankly, a coach can't create skills that aren't there. So I doubt much can be done in the short term. Maybe try to shorten swings, go with the pitch more, work the count better. 

This series should be a three alarm fire of a wake up call. 

Which is why Minasian needs to clean house after the season, new manager and new coaching staff.   And make sure they are focused and firm but not over the top like a Collins or Bowa.

And continue to upgrade the scouting and FO.

Time to change the culture at the MLB level.

No more out of house FA solutions that have rarely worked.

It’s going to take time, but a winning culture needs to be instilled and MAINTAINED.

Do that and convince Ohtani and Thor to stay.

Excellent idea. Humiliate them. That's bound to get them pissed and wake them up. I mean, they look like they first took up the game last week. It's unreal.

How about they all just wear this hat until the team makes it to the playoffs?

Don't see how they're worthy to sport an A on their caps right now.

I seriously wonder if the number of strikeouts are due to a misalignment of advanced scouting and pitch data.  A team can't be this bad at not putting the ball in play without something causing them all to derail.

This is where I think it is a cross between bad talent and organizational hitting philosophy.
