I know it's a small sample size but this is so Angels right now: Jon Jay leads the team for average and OBP for the month of May.

Unfortunately the Halos do not have many options for lead off. If we are looking at the ability to take a walk as a prerequisite then that’s a problem. If I’m not mistaken I think the Halos are last in MLB in that department

The most glaring stats are lack of BBs and XBHs.

He was solid at both for a leadoff man until 2021.

The king of soft contact is getting slightly softer contact than in the past after MLB changed the balls.  If it's the balls, he will eventually get used to them and be the same hitter he's been.  For the most part there hasn't been a lot of change other than he's swinging more.
