Gameday Thread: D-Backs @ Angels (03/12/2021) Stassi catching

Recommended Posts

Have seen Maddon split up Trout and Rendon the last few games, having Ohtani hit inbetween them and now Walsh.  Will be interesting to see what the opening day lineup looks like.  If Ohtani continues to hit on all cylinders, could see him hitting 3rd and perhaps Walsh 5th?

2B Fletcher, CF Trout, DH Ohtani, 3B Rendon, 1B Walsh, LF Upton, RF Fowler, C Stassi, SS Jimenez, perhaps.

Love the idea of Maddon slotting Ohtani/Walsh between Trout and Rendon. IMO allowing Rendon to hit 4th gives him better RBI chances. I see Walsh as more of a #5-type hitter, but if he can stick hitting 3rd then i'm 100% all for it.

Though what I'd prefer is Iglesias slotting in the #2 slot. Both he and Fletcher are low strikeout guys. Having Trout, Ohtani, Rendon and Walsh slot #3-#6 makes the RBI chances ridiculous and quite scary.

SS Jimenez, not Iglesias?

Lot of interest in this game so far today, I see.  Ha ha.

For those who aren't watching, Minasian has been in the booth with Terry (well, technically in the booth next door) for a couple innings.  Others may have a different take, but to me he hasn't said much that's newsworthy or notable thus far.  (Not saying that as a bad thing...it's just been a pretty basic/surface-level interview so far.)

He comes across as super mellow and yet he's still a better interview than Eppler.
