I think you have to be granting him an awful lot of leeway to call that doing fairly well.

Four the first four months of the season he had an ERA of under 4.00.  As a 21 year old rookie I would say that is doing "fairly well".  

 

Yes he got shelled the last two months of the season, but I would say he has performed about as well as Richards and Williams.  So yes, I felt we gave up on him too soon.

Tyler Chawood 3-0 1.90 ERA, Angels have given away lots of young talented arms.

And it's absolutely stupid. Did this org miss the memo where good pitching wins championships, not pitchers heading towards decline like Kazmir and Haren.

Dipoto does need more time to evaluate.

But Reagins would probably have traded Weaver when in the minors for Tejada, that's how stupid he was.

I liked the Chatwood trade at the time. I still like the trade. Chatwood only gets 6k/9 in the NL and I doubt his 3bb/9 holds up.

dan haren was very good until his injury last year. you can't use that to retroactively condemn the trade.

The irony is that when Haren was acquired, he had mostly so-so 2nd halves but finally had a good one in 2010.
