About the severity of Ohtani and Simmons.  I would expect a couple of roster moves.  Simmons wint be playing for awhile.  Curious how long Ohtani will be out.

Ohtani probably misses 2-3 games, especially if nothing is broken.  Simmons' looked bad, but it's more than likely a sprain, which says very little about the severity of it, but I think more than likely it'll be 4-6 weeks before he returns.  My guess is Rengifo is promoted and we see a steady diet of Cozart at shortstop, La Stella at 2B and Fletcher at 3B.  But every once in a while, Fletcher will go grab an OF's mitt and they'll let Rengifo play.  But this mustn't happen too frequently. 

Cozart has to play.

I've read that Simmons has a badly sprained ankle. I don't expect him back until around the same time or after Upton.

Cozart has to be let go. His shoulder injury last season destroyed him and he can't hit. Might as well suffer growing pains putting Rengifo in the field rather than waste at bats with Cozart.

ANDRELTON SIMMONS AND SHOHEI OHTANI MEDICAL UPDATES

 

 

ANAHEIM, CA – Angels General Manager Billy Eppler released the following statements regarding Angels INF Andrelton Simmons and DH Shohei Ohtani.

 

“Andrelton Simmons underwent an MRI today that revealed a grade three left ankle sprain. He will be placed on the 10-day IL and will see a foot and ankle specialist tomorrow. We will update with our findings at a more appropriate time. Luis Rengifo will be recalled from Salt Lake to replace Simmons.”

 

“Additionally, Shohei Ohtani reported feeling better today and is available to play tonight.”

So essentially everything you posted here was wrong. Why would you speculate when you clearly have no idea?

Gr 3 Sprain: 8 weeks if everything goes well. 12 weeks to heal most often. 12-16 weeks for strength and balance to return.

Simmons is effectively done for the season. The Angels now have decisions to make regarding how to obtain value out of the remaining four months.
