That was the part that got me too...   I get that they are under pressure from the union and shit but...  talk about self serving BS...

The players owe nothing to the union.  The union needs to be much more forward thinking and understand that the free agent market was bound to change as the PED era was ending.  I am not knowledgeable enough in this area to know how to solve it, but I would assume less years of club control would be a good start or simply free agency starts at age 27.  If you attached an age to it, it would encourage the team to promote earlier to get more value out of the player, if you did that then instead of making nothing in the minors you’d be getting paid good money in the majors even at league minimum.
