Well, he hasn't been able to set up literally anything because his control is just not there this game for whatever reason.

Perhaps the extra days off played a role. There's also the fact that he is a rookie and he only pitched 25 innings last year

He's already at 70 pitches, he's looking at one inning max. If he goes back out there and doesn't finish the inning or gets charged an extra 2 ER it will be worse. Just accept this isn't his night, take the 3 ER and keep this game within reach.
