Ok yeah he absolutely looks in better shape. You can especially tell in the face and neck.

Yeah the face is a dead giveaway that he's lost a good amount of weight which is encouraging. At his age and with all the lower body injuries he's dealt with, I'm skeptical of how productive he'll be, but at least he's in baseball shape this season and not beer league softball shape. Should only help him to maybe replicate his 2016 production, which would be a nice boost to an already improved lineup

Seriously though.  He looks 30+ lbs lighter.  

Maybe he's being a bit coy about his weight loss.  Admitting to 15 lbs is like saying 'I was in decent shape before but being healthy has allowed me to tone up'.  

Admitting to 30-40 lbs is like saying ' yeah I was fat and didn't really work all that hard to stay in shape previous off seasons'.  

He doesn't want to seem like he was Pablo Sandoval.  

BTW - I'll post for our favorite Pujols advocate:

'He looks kinda frail now.  Maybe he just stopped taking growth hormone so instead of hitting .241 with 23 hrs, he'll hit the same with 12 hrs. '

I feel kind of bad for the guy...its bad enough he gets called out on performance...but now we and the media gossip about his weight.
