OC Register: Angels held face-to-face meetings with Shohei Ohtani on Monday

The Angels have made their pitch to Shohei Ohtani.

According to multiple sources, the Angels had their turn at a face-to-face meeting with the Japanese superstar and his agent, Nez Balelo, on Monday night.

Angels general manager Billy Eppler has refused comment on the process ever since acknowledging that the club would pursue Ohtani.

The Dodgers, San Francisco Giants, Seattle Mariners, Chicago Cubs and Texas Rangers have also had their sessions, confirmed a source, leaving only the Padres unaccounted for.

It’s unclear just who represented the Angels besides Eppler, but the group was likely to have included Manager Mike Scioscia and others at the highest levels of management.

Ohtani has until Dec. 22 to make his decision.

I hope the Ohtani group had enough time to take a shower after meeting with the Mariners.

I'm really liking the part of us being quiet throughout the Ohtani sweepstakes.  2 reasons i think this could be wonderful for us is;

1. we tend to make a big splash when we are quite ( Pujols and Hamilton).

2. it shows Othani that we're not always in the bright lights or are trying to draw attention. Similarly to what i feel Ohtani is looking for.

I have to say, I love that Othani is doing this so fast.  Within two days, six of the seven teams are done.  I'd figure the Pads will happen tomorrow.  It is clear Othani wants to get signed quickly and not stretch this out over three weeks like he could have.

He may be introduced during the Winter Meetings, or at least that's what a couple writers speculated. 

Speaking of, has Eppler ever had an introductory press conference? I remember such a big deal about Albert and Hamilton, obviously because they were huge names, but I also remember Vernon Wells and Torii Hunter and the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse having photo opps and intros. We didn't do anything like that for Simmons or Upton or any coaching moves.

Not that I can think of. I believe they even heald one when they extended Weaver. 

Maybe they didn’t for Upton because it was an in season move and we were on the road. Then this off season it was a little bit different of circumstances

Then with Simmons maybe he was just unavailable to come to California

Obviously just speculation, who knows
