  1. 1. Did you like the Stand Up to Cancer tribute in the middle of the world series game?

    • Yes. My relative died of cancer. It moved me.

    • No. Can I just watch a baseball game without being hit up by grief porn?

    • Yes. This might be the thing that moves the needle on curing cancer.

    • No. Leave me alone and let me watch the game.

Here is a bit of perspective as to why there is an ad during a highly watched sporting event instead of some random day in May.

Lockheed is just now delivering on their 400 billion dollar jet fighters, the F-35, of which they will make about 2,300 of them and by the end of the production run will be obsolete.

The National Cancer Institutes budget this year was approximately $5 billion. So in 80 years cancer research will catch up with some war planes in dollars spent and there may just be a couple F-35 still showing up at air shows around that time.

Over 1.7 trillion has been spent on the mid east wars since 2001. I'm bad at math but I just don't think cancer research is ever going to catch up to that.

We have a fucked up sense of valuation in this country for what to spend our tax dollars on.

We need to Stand Up To Congress.

We have unsustainable population growth. We are being proactive.

Reaching their largest audience to hit a very sensitive issue is the best they can do. During that break about 50 people died of cancer and about 2,500 during that game. I can see why so many don't want to see that going on when they are watching a sporting event that is supposed to be a break from reality. But for many reality didn't take a break.

Sorry about your wife, Vlad.
