Hamilton Should Bat Second

Recommended Posts

1. With Trout at leadoff, teams will not be able to walk Trout like they walk Albert due to the threat of a stolen base

2. With Trout on base, he should be stealing a lot on all the offspeed stuff Hamilton gets

3. We have yet to see it, but supposedly Hamilton can hit. If Trout returns to being a weapon on the bases, pitchers will rush their deliveries and maybe hang a breaking ball to Hamilton (hopefully he is able to hit that much)

4. Break up the righties

1. Trout CF

2. Hamilton RF

3. Pujols DH

4. Trumbo LF

5. Kendrick 2b

6. Aybar SS

7. Iannetta C

8. Harris 3b

9. Lucho 1b

I agree, this might be the best move for the team.  Either Hamilton sees more fastballs or Trout steals second and or third.  Only problem, will Trout get on base enough?

Hamilton said before the season ever began that he sucks batting 4th.  He's a #3 hitter according to him.  I say, get him out of the 4th spot and see what happens.  But, I really like this lineup you throw out!

Aybar

Trout

Hamilton

Pujols

Trumbo

Kendick

Conger

Shuck

Jimenez

Avoids the temptation to have Aybar sacrifice Trout over to second. If Trout and Aybar are on 1st and 3rd, Trout could steal on a slow breaking ball in the dirt to Hamilton. Takes away the option to pitch around the slow running Pujols to get to Hamilton and set up a GIDP. Also decent alternation between left and right handed batters.
