When he is hitting 95/96 with his fastball he shuts teams out. When he's around 91/93 he starts walking guys, throwing a lot of pitches and getting hit hard.

A large part of this can be explained by rest and fatigue. Last night he was lighting up the radar gun, unsurprisingly it's the first game back after the all star break. The last couple of seasons he has started out the year very well and then fallen back to earth as the season progressed.

That is the one area MLB & NHL are similar, teams want Size at the Pitching & CenterDefense/Goalie position.

I think we've circled back to  point.  Extend Santigo.  Let him learn to throw his pitches, he doesn't need the velocity if guys are wondersing whats coming.

Santiago is lights out when he wants to be. Just needs more confidence and the belief he can do it every 5 days. He's starting to believe that.

Seattle trades Ace Mark Langston to Montreal for Randy Johnson, Gene Harris, and Brain Holman.  Whatta trade.  Langston became a free agent that off season and signed with the Angels for a then-record 4 years $16 million.

I think we all know that everyone in the majors are great players, however compared to other major leaguers, which is what we do here, some players aren't that great.

Competitiveness is like anger, can be used properly.  You can point to supplements or drugs but if you don't have the will you'll never find the way.

I just looked up the trade - wow, former "heir apparant to Wally Joyner" Lee Stevens was also part of that trade (sent with Lee, Phillips and Sizemore to Cleveland)!
