With Cron and Marte performing as well as they have, I don't think we will see Ji-Man yet. I do think he will take Nava's spot before end of the year though.

Marte has cooled down a bit.....there is absolutely no reason for a team 18.5 games out of first place to be playing Nava on a regular basis....but we probably will...

I imagine Nava is there the same reason Trop is in SLC - they're trying to run out any vet for the next few weeks to see if they attract any trade interest.

I think Nava has no value at all right now, but if he can have a hot month he'd maybe bring back a AA reliever or UT player.

Marte's cooled, but Marte's also done a lot more in the majors than Choi has, and offers more defensive versatility. If Escobar is dealt I expect Marte to slide over there and that could open up a spot for Choi too.

I think if Escobar is dealt, we'll see Cowart over at 3B.

I think Cowart will be called up first over Ji-Man, yes. I don't think Cowart will be handed 3B right off the bat though. I think Sosh will rotate both around multiple positions - wouldn't be surprised to see Cowart jump around the IF much like Aybar did in his first season. He played second tonight.

Ultimately, my point was that I think Choi stays in SLC until Nava is gone, with Marte being ahead of him even if Escobar is dealt.

I really like the ways Choi and Marte compliment each other though, especially if Marte keeps working on LF. They could form a nice, cheap, effective platoon at a couple different positions - 1B, DH, LF.

Yeah I agree with you there, Nava will be given until the trade deadline to show something. If he doesn't, he'll be released, if he does, he'll be traded. Regardless, he won't be our LF in a month.

Marte really is not ready to be an option in LF yet. But after a winter full of working on it, I think he can be a Juan Rivera type of adequate. They'll keep him rotating between 3B, 1B and DH.

I think once Escobar is dealt, Cowart will take the majority of starts at 3B. His defense there is just too good to ignore. He'll probably sit 1-2 out of every 5 games when Marte is at 3B though.

And Choi, his only way to consistent AB's for this ball club is LF. Cron is hitting well enough that he can't be ignored anymore, and will be our primary 1B. Albert obviously can't be moved, so that limits Choi's options. But if the Angels stick him in LF and leave him alone, my guess is their investment will be rewarded. He's simply too good of a hitter not to find some measure of success in the majors.

I think it's between the ears. His first exposure he didn't have an opportunity, and the few AB's he did have, he looked awful. He knew his time as a major leaguer was coming to a close fast, and at this stage, you never know if it will come again.

When the Angels DFA'd him, they didn't want him to leave the organization. The front office really believes this kid will be good. So they told if he accepted a AAA assignment with the team, they guaranteed another promotion to the majors before the end of the year.

With a promised second chance in his pocket, he returned to AAA more relaxed, determined to show his worth and he was able to hit up to his ability (.327 with an OBP over .400 and solid pop).

It sucks Cron got hurt, but Choi showed he was ready once and for all. I can't say how good or bad he'll be. But if he's in the lineup everyday, his bat has a better chance of producing. We know at least one thing, he'll get on base.

I think right now, his short term goal is to show over the next four weeks that he will hit in the majors. If he dies, once Cron is back, Choi will have played himself into an everyday role in LF.
