We've had a few that were this bad...

1983 anchored by Luis Sanchez comes to mind....

1992 was pretty bad after Bryan Harvey went down.

1994 was pretty crappy!

1987 wasn't complete trash due to some individual efforts! And a complete walk-on DeWayne Buice who was our rookie closer....

I suppose that it could always be worse, even when we're bringing Fernando Salas into tie games.

Best part of 1987's pen was Jack Lazorko's kick saves on balls hit up the middle.

I seem to have this vague recollection that the Angels fell apart in the 1982 playoffs against the Brewers because they had no bullpen.

They "MADE" the playoffs though soooooo....Doesn't count~ 

 

And actually Bruce Kison did pretty well coming out of the pen in the stretch run and playoffs. Hassler was toast from over use during the season. Corbett was the Meltdown...Sanchez was our Frieri....Don Aase came back to help out also! 

 

***Note*** I played on a scout team in 1988ish and became teammates with Aase's nephew Clint and met Don! Nice guy~

Yep, Hassler was the ONLY truly reliable guy in the pen that year.   Sanchez was smoke and mirrors, and it caught up to him the following season.    Corbett was dreadful after being acquired with Wilfong for Brunansky. 

Games 3 and 4 were all Brewers, but game 5 would have gone to the Halos with a solid pen in place.

It's slightly comforting to know that, as bad as things are for the Angels, they're less worse than some other teams.
