Anybody local to OC have a good guy to do laminate flooring? Been wanting to do it for awhile but lagged. My washing machine started leaking a few weeks back and i just figured out is was soaking my living room carpet. Yay. Not sure how much its gonna be to clean but may as well do the new floor now i guess

We used LA Carpet (They do everything). Very happy with the product. My wife is a great negotiator and got the price knocked down a few K. 0% financing. Had a couple pieces that needed to be replaced 12 months after installation. No problems getting it replaced.

Do not do shoe base. Get new baseboards

We installed almost 2 years ago. Love it. It's a bitch to keep clean sometimes. Always have to sweep it.

We used maximum carpets (obviously not only carpet) out of Norco and they came out to the OC.

Was actually surprised this thread wasn't about them. 

 

But you are going to put laminate in your living room?  Why not put hardwood?  Not that hard to do yourself if you are putting it on a wood surface.  If you are putting it on concrete, not sure.

I did fake-wood ceramic tile. Off the shelf from Lowes for 3.50-ish a square foot. I'm still getting compliments about it. Best decision of my remodel.

Thanks for the heads up. The carpet might be salvageable but wont know for a few days. Shit part was that room never really gets used, so the carpet in there was the nicest part of the damn house.

There is no way I'm using a flooring company that has it's own in house lawyer.

People have been clearing all of their carpets out for wood flooring because of allergens. I think vacuuming twice a week is preferable to cancer.

I used to do flooring from the age of 16 as a helper, until the age of 27, well on my own making a ton of money in Las Vegas. I did it all (Carpet, Wood, Lino, Tile, etc.)

 

Made some good money doing glue down carpet in the casinos and casino rooms back in the day. The problem is, it was always feast of famine, which is why I went to a tech school when I was 27 to get out of the business.

 

That and flooring owners started paying the browns errrr illegals way less a yard to do a job that was paying me $3.00-$8.00 a yard.

Ha. I do not know of any flooring companies in Orange County. I did most of my flooring in Las Vegas and years before that, in the IE.

You should have a drain pan under your washing machine, connected to an external drain.

Or if not at the very least put a drain pan and add a water sensor so you know when it's leaking.

We just had hardwood laminate flooring put in our living room and dining room. When they pulled up the carpeting, they found the original linolium flooring with the decorative cut outs. The installer told me he is getting certified on doing the cut outs (in lays) because linoleum and vinyl are the new hot thing....again. Before he started, he asked us if we wanted to change our minds and keep the old floor because we will be wishing we had.

No thanks. I like traditional.

My house is so noisy now without the carpeting to soften the noise.

its a shame, you see homes with beautiful American Mahogany under the floors, but people dont know better and have carpet or White Oak on top

Also, that GARCO brand moisture cure, its been banned for a while, but nothing out there today gives floors the same finish, or environmental hazard.....
