Well, getting Lawrie would save them some money so they can get a couple guys who can.

freese is a better player and the angels win when he plays.

Lawrie is only 26 and has some upside.  His K rate went up dramatically in 2015.  Not sure what that is all about.  His defense wasn't very good last year as well.  Maybe he just hated playing in oakland for a crap team.  He was swinging at so many more pitches out of the zone it's kinda weird.  I wonder if oak was trying to get him to be more selective and it backfired.  

 

Of course it depends on what they would want in return.

I really like the idea of getting an infielder who can play second or third. I think that would shore up the infield. We almost have to go with Gia/Yarbrough/Johnson or the rooks at third this year or next just in hopes that one sticks so we can have a cheap position set for 5-6 years.

Lawrie has only one somewhat complete and injury free season, last year with the A's. I really don't trust the prick to not only be a distraction on the field but not be on the field enough to justify a trade. He is less reliable than Hanley Ramirez and that is hard to do.

I would prefer talent over edginess. He is at best a 95 ops+ player that pisses off other teams before taking nearly half a season off. I don't think you want to see Trout beaned because Lawrie is an asshat. Edited December 7, 2015 by notti
