With Kopi still unsigned, and this being his last season under the current contract, one starts to wonder how the Kings can stay under the cap by signing him to a new contract.

Kopi, Quick, and Doughty are the cornerstones of the franchise.

 

I have started to think about the decline of Dustin Brown these past 2 seasons.   He was a strong +/- guy from the 2009-2010 through 2013-2014 seasons.

But he was -17 a year ago and is -5 so far this season.    Plus, he seems to only be good for about 10 goals and 15 assts a season now.

That's a lot for $5.75 million AAV through the 2021-2022 season for a guy who turns 32 in November 2016.

 

Do the Kings now consider trading their captain (Brown), and about half of the remaining salary?   

That would free up about $2.75 million AAV towards re-signing Kopi.    

 

It's still hopefully some 5+ months from the close of the Kings season.   Just thought this could start to be discussed.
