Am I a bad fan because...?

There are no bad fans here.  There are reactionary fans...impatient fans...hyperpbolic fans...angry, myopic, disgruntled, afraid-of-future-disappointment-so-I'll-wish-for-the-worst-now fans.  This board encompasses every possible emotion, muted or otherwise, that passes through each fan's mind at one point or another...the difference is we get to see it on display with board names attached to it.

 

This board is a real-time collective fan "Id" unchecked and unfiltered...its honest, for the most part, and I appreciate the different personalities that inhabit it.

I hope they go 20-4 or whatever to start the season the way the D-Backs did a few years ago. I hate that the Mariners are getting the offseason trophy for adding a few mediocre bats to an already oustanding starting staff, but they have 12 games to make up on the Angels. The Angels fortified their rotation depth while maintaining a superior bullpen, and added a good hitter in Matt Joyce. CJ Cron looked like he is ready for a bigger role, and they are basically the same team as last year, but yes, they lost Howie Kendrick.

 

None of that is going to push them 6 or 7 games down, whereas nothing the Mariners did is going to add 10 games to their win total. No one picked the Angels to win 98 last year, but I thought the year after they won the most games in the majors, they'd get a little more credit.

 

Also, I know they got swept in the playoffs, but they also lost those first two games in extras. Not having their best pitcher in the playoffs certainly hurt them as did an ineffective Josh Hamilton.

while i never hope we lose any game, i do enjoy the sh*tstorm that you perfectly described. Quite frankly, it amazes me.

Don't worry, it's coming. Just wait until a starter gets shelled, or the bullpen blows a game late, or a starting position player goes hitless for a couple of games, or somebody makes an error in the field or a baserunning blunder that costs us a game.
