Owner of St. Louis Rams plans to build NFL stadium in Inglewood

Recommended Posts

The St Louis stadium is only 20 years old. There is no way the amount of money poured into it has been paid off and the Rams are wanting over $700 million in renovations or they threaten to move.

Agreed, but sports teams aren't staying in stadiums/arenas as long as they used to.

Look at Turner Field, the Braves abandoning it after just two decades once the new stadium is complete.

The original Charlotte Hornets arena was already imploded in 2007 after maybe two decades.

The Edward Jones Dome cost $280 million ($433 million in 2015 dollars) to build in 1995.   It was a very simple facility even by the 2000s.

Makes no sense to put a higher cost into renovation, than what it cost to originally build it just 2 decades back.

St. L. has never been a true pro football town.   They root hard for U of Missouri football, and possibly U of Illinois football.

The Cardinals will always be the big thing there.   Even Blues hockey is likely more popular than the NFL there.

I for one will always be a Rams fan, and look forward to them returning to their rightful home in SoCal one day.

Raiders?    Oakland can keep them.    Two teams total between here and SD is plenty.

Nothing is bigger out there than Chiefs and Rams. Columbia where Mizzou plays is pretty central so that gets a huge following on all sides. But the Rams aren't some side option.

this is very true. when we would visit family in southern nebraska during Christmas time, we'd occasionally make trips down to st. joseph, missouri. the number of chiefs jackets out in public was very impressive, like it was halftime during a game and people were out running a quick errand before the second half resumed.

Something just occurred to me regarding the Inglewood location.

Is it even possible to have a stadium built there now?  I'm not talking about the Forum, or the now defunct Hollywood park.  Because the environment back then and now are totally different.  But the site is directly under the approach flight path to LAX.  So you would have 50-70 thousand people directly underneath an approach flight path, where you can just about see the people in the plane as it flies over every few minutes.  Wouldn't this be a major security problem?

Yep, it's time for WM to return to SoCal after a decade long absence (Staples Center in 2005).

It's become like a Super Bowl now, with using only stadiums for several years now.

Although, didn't Kroenke and Vince McMahon once have a big disagreement over a WWE show vs Nuggets game in Denver at the Pepsi Center?

That plus the Rams = happy camper.

Only arena I can think of for Wm to take place in now is msg.

Wm 7 was supposed to be in the Coliseum but Sgt slaughter and the wwf got death threats bc of slaughters character (Iraqi supporter) during war time. They moved it to the sports arena.

I don't see why they couldn't sell out the Coliseum or rose bowl today especially when it's in Jerry's world next yr.
