Green is actually better at short than he is at second. The work he's put in with Alfredo really shows. His arm is stronger, he's getting to the ball quicker. By no means is he a "plus" defender, but he's gone from a "fringe" SS to a passable defensive SS.

Teams have mostly caught onto the defensive value a marquee SS provides and are keying on that. But if teams were willing to play Hanley at SS just because of his bat there are probably at least a couple of teams that'd do the same with Green.

I'd prefer they use him as the super utility infielder or platoon him with Cron at DH and just play the hot bat.

Green and Hanley are on two different planets offensively. Hanley is also better defensively.

Personally, I don't think much of Green offensively ... maybe I'm wrong.

Not a SS, but I would love for the Angels to select Delino Deshields Jr. in the Rule 5 draft if he is available.
