If they option out Navarro, and a reliever, aren't they ineligible to be recalled for 10 days unless someone goes on the DL, even with the Sep 1 roster increase?

If they option them to a team whose season ends, they can come back. Salt Lake isn't going to the playoffs and their last game is Sept 1, so anyone optioned there can be back on sept 2.

The Angels are off on Sept 1 anyway.

That's why sometimes, if a team's AAA team is going to the playoffs, guys get optioned to A or AA in late August.

If Beckham is fighting for the starting 2B position next year, then we've filled one hole and created another one just as big.  Howie may not be great, but he's a helluva lot better than Beckham.

Agreed...Howie has the 8th highest WAR for 2B in the entire league.

 

He has his faults.  His power has disappeared and his penchant for raly killy DP's are frustrating but he's a solid all around player for his position. 

I'm guessing this has more to do with us trading Lindsey and creating a hole in terms of depth than Howie being traded.

Beckham is horrible. He used to have good defense but not so much anymore. He came up to the White Sox as the next Mike Trout (pre Mike Trout) and he hit .400 or something for a few months and the organization was going crazy over him. He's sucked ever since.

Could also be that Beckham needed a fresh start elsewhere, just like Grilli did here.
