I would love to think this sets up a Howie deal for a P. But sadly I believe it's just bench depth which we don't have much of. ( infielders that is )

Not as well as he's hit since July 1 (.825 OPS). 

 

Beckham does have 10 XBH's in just 97 at bats vs. lefties. 

We need some sort of sock at the DH spot.    That's been an abysmal failure since Cron started slumping real bad.

Although Green is capable of the same thing (.859 OPS in 38 at bats vs lefties so far in 2014).

Or is Green potentially headed someplace in a package for a SP?

On the surface it makes you scratch your head a little. Angels already have MIF depth in MacDonald and I'm not sure Beckam would provide you anything more than he does. Not sure what team would be interested in Howie - is there a contender out there looking for a second baseman because no team in a rebuilding mode would want to take on his contract at his age.

This looks like a salary dump by the White Sox. I wouldn't read much in to it. He can be a decent utility guy but nothing else. Green is much better. I don't expect to give up anything of value for him, certainly not a Rondon.
