Hit and Run

Thread update. The insurance company finally declared her at fault so my rental car and deductible is all covered. It turned out that she never filed an accident report with the police, DMV or insurance until she was called in by the LAPD for questioning regarding my hit and run charge. Amazing that even with all of that it took Mercury a month and a half to settle with... Mercury as to who was at fault.

 

I looked into what it would require for me to replace the headlight cover myself. No big deal, I only have to removed the rock cover over both front wheels to access the bolts to remove the entire front bumper. Only about 24 different bolts to remove to get the headlight out and no guarantees that the cover can actually be replaced instead of the entire housing. All in all a 2 person job since I don't want the front bumper messed up when it drops to the garage floor.

 

So how many Germans does it take to replace a lightbulb?

Glad to hear all is well. But I don't get it.

 

If you're gonna spend that much money on a car you obviously understand that you're also taking on the responsibility of having to overpay to replace anything that goes wrong with it.

 

So I don't see what the big deal/surprise is when you have to spend that much to get it fixed.

 

The desk officer was pretty amused that the traffic cop told me they wouldn't respond to a hit and run unless there was an injury. He said they don't know policy and left it at that.

 

Shocking.
