What do you guys think about Mike using Ianetta more as it relates to working with the young guys, and having Conger catch the two veterans? Do you guys put a lot of stock in an idea like this? I'm not saying Mike will do it, but I certainly think it's completely possible. I never caught a game above little league but when you hear pitchers talk about how comfortable they are throwing to certain catchers or about how they didn't have to shake a catcher off the entire game, it certainly sounds like it has some merit, even if it's just mentally. If a veteran presence like Ianetta can calm the nerves of a Skaggs or a Santiago, I say let him catch him even if Conger has more pop in his bat. I'd like to hear what you guys think.

I agree about Conger having more upside personally, but if Ianetta is better with the young starters should he get a bulk of the playing time Claude?

I think Conger calls a good game and and is ready to take the lead spot. I understand your point about working with young pitchers but it's good to mix it up so they're comfortable with both catchers. Iannetta might actually thrive down the road with some extra rest during what is a very long season.

I believe that there is something to be said for pairing a veteran catcher with a young pitcher. Like Reveille says, ultimately it comes down to who each pitcher is most comfortable with, but initially the more experienced guy should catch the least experienced pitchers. IMO.
