Scott Downs can't catch a break

WOW.........he's really fallen off -- Downs had some effective outings and time with our Halos.......he started to lose effectiveness (yes, letting runners on base when he entered the game score) and then we moved him out of here........he sort became unraveled there at the end of his time here.

 

the comparison to Justin Speier is apt........although I think Speier downward spiral was steeper than Downs' was............

Speier's implosion was 10x worse than anything Downs ever did in Anaheim.

I think the Angels got 2 and a half pretty good years out of him, I don't know if it is worth trying to get another good year. He could be valuable as a lefty specialist, but even then he wasn't all that great against lefties this year, at least when compared to previous years.

 

I think if they are going to go after an older lefty specialist, they should go after Javier Lopez.

He could've at least done something productive and caught Chipper's first pitch.

if we take him back now -- it means that the Halos' future approach is similar to the one we've seen the past two years......

 

duct tape-like inexpensive fixes for the middle relievers in the pen because our payroll for other players is too much to spend anything here.

 

same approach, same result.........

 

I say NO to re-signing/ re-acquiring Scott Downs.

Scott Downs, traded from #Angels to #Braves for first playoff spot in 13-year career, did not make NLDS roster.

 

He didn't pitch well enough to make the NLDS roster. A WHIP of almost 2 is not deserving of the spot.
