You never know how the lottery can turn out.

Lakers could easily steal their way into a 4th or 5th overall pick.

Just make sure that Mitch Kupchak tells Jimmy Bob Buss to shut up when suggesting who to draft.

Jimmy Bob thought that Bynum would be an All-Star.

Bynum was an All-Star and a damn good player when healthy. He also dragged a busted leg up and down the court for the Lakers in the 2010 finals. It's easy to talk trash on Jim Buss but Bynum is not the guy to talk about.

Then something happened to that Bynum then, because he seemed to stop caring after that season, starting with the embarrassing display against Dallas in game 4 in 2011.

I've never actively have rooted against any of my teams so that they can get a better draft pick, but that changes with this team. Even without Kobe, if the other guys remained healthy it would at least be fun to watch, but it's unbearable right now.

I'm just hoping for 30 wins and to not set an LA Lakers record for most losses (30-52 in 74-75 season).

That should still give them a decent chance at a successful lottery and a top 3 or 4 pick.

But with Bryant out until maybe mid-February, all bets for # of wins are off.

No way will 30 wins be good enough for top 4 pick. The number of horrible teams this year is crazy.

We don't need to be top 4 to have a successful draft.  Smart or Exum (to name a few) would still be available at #5-6 and we could certainly use a young point guard to team with Kobe and whatever we pickup in free agency, along with Wesley Johnson, Xavier Henry, etc. who might return.  Throw in what we receive from Cleveland in the potential Bynum deal and we begin to get younger and more athletic.

And now supposedly Jimmy Bob is asking for Dion Waiters and a future 1st round pick, in addition to Bynum's contract to waive, from the Cavs for Gasol.

Uhh Jimmy Bob, the Cavs may have done dumb things in the past.   Even they aren't THAT stupid to trade a young solid SG AND a future 1st round pick for a 33 year-old Gasol with an expiring contract.

This ain't the late 1970s when the Lakers railroaded the Cavs into taking Butch Lee for their 1979 1st round pick, which became #1 overall and drafting Magic Johnson.
