...for injecting new life into their playoff hopes, which were a bit shaky coming into this series.

In the past three days, of the teams ahead of them for the second wild card, New York has made up 2 games on Kansas City, 1 game on Cleveland, and 3 games on Baltimore. The Rays are losing right now, and if they do lose tonight, the Yankees will have gained 2.5 games on them for that second WC, and will be only 4.5 back with plenty of games to go.

The Angels are just what the doctor ordered for Yankee fans.

Would love to hear how this loss is Scioscia's fault. Any takers?

It was a mistake to keep Weaver in there after the walk to A-Rod in the 2nd inning. He had lost it, and with two outs, you bring someone (anyone) in to get that third out and keep it a 5-0 game.

The loss is not his fault, but it was still a mistake, imo.

Why take weaver out?  Who cares.  It's not like winning was paramount.  Let your best pitcher try to offset the big crooked number he put up by logging a few innings.

Throwing Soriano a fastball near the plate is smart.  guy is known for offering at offspeed in the dirt.  Works in the first game so what do they do?  Fastballs over the plate.  13 Rbi in two games on fastballs.

Ianetta is a poor game caller.

I still think it's best in that situation to try to minimize the damage. 5-0, it's still a game. Once it was 8-0 it was over.

I know we're out of it, but I think a manager should play to win every game, no matter what.

Definitely not Scioscia's fault.  His "don't wallow, turn the page" would be working if these stupid players would just listen.  Must keep Scioscia for next year, so we can again come out of the gate sputtering, all the while explaining it's only the preseason or what-me-worry early in the season.  His stoic, laid back approach will eventually catch on and we'll destroy everyone on the way to the world series.  Bank it.  Get rid of all these stupid players but make sure to keep Scioscia.  He's our rock.

Lol, we have the worse bullpen in baseball, and you want to extend its use? Blanton is the long releiver, he threw some many terrible pitches last night it would have been 18-0 by the time the Yankees finished abusing him.
