Cuban right-hander Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez free to sign with MLB team

Some of it wasn't 20/20.

Santana always had a strong season after a bad one. 2012 was bad, do the math. They could have then traded him in late July to a contender for a solid prospect. One that will likely be better than Sisk will ever be.

Pujols started his decline in 2011. Hamilton started his decline in 2012 with the 2 horrid months and last week disapperance.

Iannetta was always mediocre behind the plate, while Chatwood showed decent composure for a 21 year-old here.

Worst of all, we trade THREE really solid lefty pitching prospects since August 2009 (Torres, Corbin, and Skaggs).

What org trades all of their lefty pitching prospects away in a one year period?

The same man who trades Napoli for Vernon Wells and his $80 million+ contract...

I see your point about trading the left handed prospects. Chatwood was expendable or so we thought. We traded him for a starting catcher that was an upgrade over Bobby Wilson. Remember how much you hate watching Nibs pitch when he walks people. Well that is what it appeared Chatwood was. As far as Santana goes, are we really going to defend the guy that is so mentally weak he can only pitch well every other season? If a guy is only good every other season can you really ever count on him? Is he worth $13 million?

It's too bad Arte couldn't have purchased Cespedes, Puig and Gonzalez with half of the money he spent on the Albert Pujols.

Cespedes is an average major leaguer right now. The days of him hitting .340/.390/.600 are becoming a nice memory for Athletics fans.  Puig had a great month.  We'll see.
