Detmers got out of the first with no damage, but his command wasn't great.  First inning of the spring, so hope that works itself out.

Willie Calhoun blasts a HR to right.  I wonder if he'll make it through spring training.  I was just about to post that I had a feeling he'd be one of the first cuts right before he homered.

It's like Little League out there in this inning.  Lol.  Wild throws, tons of walks, Dozier not going back to cover first after Detmers fielded a bunt.

Reid Detmers doesn’t look very good in his first start so far.

4 walks, an unearned run, and 28 pitches through 1 with 11 strikes and 18 balls.

As I type this, the Angels just completely botched a routine infield bunt.

Did I miss something?  Why did they send the Padres runner back to 3rd base on that double?

Detmers’ pitch count is in mid season form.

Trent Rush keeps claiming the score is 3-1.  It's not: it's 2-1.

Trent Rush said that double was a ground rule double and the runner was sent back to third.

Sure as hell didn’t look like a ground rule double in my book.

Ah, they clarified: it was a ground rule double, I guess because the ball bounced onto the batter's eye in CF before coming back onto the field.

Yeah, I was surprised, too.  I think it's because the ball bounced up onto the batter's eye, even though it came right back to the CFer.

Ok, I've seen enough of Dozier at 1B to know that he should never play there again.  Now he just completely zoned out and wasn't anywhere near the base on a grounder to SS.  Bizarre.
