What do you expect (not hope) Trout produces in 2024? | Over/under for disappointment

  1. 1. What do you expect (not hope) Trout produces in 2024?

    • Vintage Trout Hath Returneth: 8+ WAR
    • More of post-peak but still very good Trout, but healthy-ish: 6-8 WAR
    • Meh - injuries strike, the writing is on the wall, but at least he produces something: 4-6 WAR
    • Crap-fest continues: Below 4 WAR
  2. 2. Over/under for Disappointment

    • 8 WAR - I'm unreasonable
    • 7 WAR - I'm an optimist, but not crazy
    • 6 WAR - I mean, 2022, right?
    • 5 WAR - I'll take it
    • 4 WAR - Life sucks, but I know it

Just hoping he can play a full season -- at least 150 games.  If he does, he will hit about .285, 35 HRs - 105 RBI and I'd like to see him steal Moree bases (20 on the season would be nice) but that's probably not happening.

Yeah, I think the days of him stealing even a modest amount of bases are long gone. Obviously he's had a ton of injuries and the shortened covid season during this time, but since the start of 2019, he only has 18 total stolen bases.

If he plays 150 games his home run totals will probably be in the 40's.

Why?

He did sign a contract and chose to be here

but at the end of the day, we’re not winning anything anytime soon.

he’s put in the time here and he deserves to play for a contender

but….maybe he just wants to be here , so who knows

Ok but how does him being here hinder a rebuild?

Do you think hes not fully aware that him as a player taking up 20% of the entire teams payroll and how him not playing impacts the health of the entire team? Or do you think he sits there and says, oh man i know ive been on the DL for more than half the year for 3 straight years, this team sucks.

Contract. We can at least have some relief. I’m sure the angels would have to eat some money

prospect return. Maybe his stock isn’t as high as it used to be but it’d be a good start

it’s a 85-90 loss team with him in 2023 and it’s probably a 100 loss team without him in 2023 but with some type of future in the horizon

Can’t say what he’s thinking. He’s a competitor. I’m sure he wants to be out there but his body is beginning to break down and on the wrong side of 30

Ok, you aren’t getting a prospect return for him and his contract, even if you pick up a bunch of the money which would be stupid.  Also if you are rebuilding you are going to have a low payroll, so who cares about his $36 million? It won’t be a 100 loss team next year, as they have never lost 100 games in a season and this is FAR from the worst team they have ever had.
