Are they ever going to be comfortable playing Moustakas at third?  If so, this would have been a good night to do it.

Well Ohtani, once again, bail us out. This lineup is absolute trash.

Trout will incrementally need more days off as he gets older. Wear and tear can intensify without some rest between games. Even if relatively healthy. 

It's only at the halfway mark now, but against a weaker team at home it doesn't hurt to rest him. Moniak also needs to be in the lineup enough to stay sharp. He's earned some playing time and is still a work in progress. Most likely he'll play in the corners more,depending on matchups, and who is hot or not. 

Depth isn't something just on paper, but part of the everyday equation.

Escobar probably isn't back from the citizenship test until close to game time. Even if he left New York at 3 pm their time, he wouldn't be back until 5.

Escobar is a good enough player, like Urshela was/is, that I’m not too worried about it….if we had continued to play Padlo, I’d be concerned….

Then who would play first?

Trout is resting, so Moniak needs to be in CF, so Renfroe needs to be in RF, so options for 1B with Trout resting are pretty limited. Drury or Rengifo would need to play 2B, but we pick Drury, so Moose is the only guy for 1B.

We don't need Moose at 3B, we have Escobar for that even without Rendon.

It would be nice if either Renfroe or gigaChad Wallach were hitting 5th but Nevin has some obsession with Ward.

Taylor Ward is back to not looking very good and the guy gets 1 or 2 XBH per week MAX. Doesn't cut it high in the lineup.

Ward last 14 days - .261/.286/.391/.677

Ward last 365 days - .255/.324/.404/.728

Do you like that last line from your everyday LFer? On a contender? Pretty MEH if you ask me. I think that's what Ward is.
