The Bochy challenge was unesessary given the game situation. Some may say it was  rubbing it in and going against baseball etiquette. And if the manager's disliked each other it could lead to some sort of retaliation down the road. But Bochy could say he was just backing his player, who was loudly asking for a replay. And obviously had video proof for the reversal. With the score one sided it still looked petty. 

Interestingly, Nevin didn't back Neto when he wanted a challenge. Even though they saw the call was correct. Sometimes a manager has to use psychology and stand behind a player  even if he knows he'll lose the argument. They used to do it a lot more for pitchers and disputed ball / strike calls till they toughened the rules. Managers arguing and backing their players would often result in ejections, but with challenges for fielding plays they can do it legally.

Watching Tucker melt down in person makes me even angrier about the Iglesias trade. That was the dumbest move I’ve ever seen any GM make. Tucker sucks.

If you want to look at it that way, Iglesias’ salary is paying for Estevez and Moore this year.

Also, to be clear, his value, right now, on BTV is 2.5 so even though he had a big contract, they should've gotten more value for him. Heck they got Moniak and another OF for Syndergaard, and the Brewers for Josh Hader got significantly more...

The salary dump narrative is absolutely stupid. Yes he was paid highly, but yes he is a top 5 closer in Baseball.

I’ll agree the return was disappointing but not because Davidson has underperformed.

We're assuming the budget would be exactly the same with Iglesias instead of other guys.

It would seem wiser to believe it wouldn't have changed instead of suggesting it would have. Estevez I am sure was also very enticed at the opportunity to close with the Angels.

Let’s assume Estevez doesn’t sign here if Iglesias is still here.  

Iglesias’ salary is $16M minus Estevez’ salary of $6.8M leaves $9.2M to discard if we were to stay at $226.5M (according to Cotts).  The tax limit is $233M, leaving about $6.5 to play with so if applied toward the discard amount: $9.2M - $6.5= $2.7M as minimum to discard and stay under the limit.  
I think it’s reasonable that the budget would have remained at $226.5, so someone else most likely wouldn’t be signed or acquired.  The two new players that are closest in salary to $9.2 are Drury at $8.5M and Renfroe at $11.9M.  Moore was $7.55M.
